Paper Forgs

Initially, Paper Forgs was started when two friends started folding frogs using business cards. They wanted to sell the frogs and donate all money to a charity. I asked to join the fundraiser and helped fold and advertise the frogs to most of the year group. Over the weeks before selling them, we worked hard to make posters, flyers, spread the word, and of course to fold the paper frogs. We contacted teachers and filled out forms. There were many people helping with the Paper Forgs and during the first day, we managed to raise about $200.

All of us presented and advertised these forgs to assemblies and advisories, and after much planning and hard work, we managed to raise about 500HKD.

We realised that although many people were buying the Paper Forgs, they didn’t spend money for the sole purpose of a paper frog. Many donators just wanted to help. A friend donated $50 without receiving a Paper Forg. A peer we weren't familiar with came and supported our fundraising. As I live a highly privileged life, I never had to fully rely on acts of kindness, and decisions others make for my sake. On that day, I fully realised how small acts of kindness are extremely appreciated, even when there are no rewards.
